While I think it increases the types of choices you can make on the preliminary ballot, it has the lopsided effect on the November state ballots when there's a possibility that the opposition party won't be available to vote for.

I was explaining the propositions to Ben last night before voting. I started reading the premise of 14 to him and he was all, "ooh! that sounds great!" ... but then I read him the other half and he said, "um, never mind." Somehow I think people didn't read more than the first half.
