The Issue:
In a bid to provide a new revenue stream for Caramida's Beef-Based Agriculture industry, it has been suggested that grebes [ETA: The grebe is the national bird of the Dominion of Caramida] could be added to the menu.
The Debate:
The Government Position:says Beef-Based Agriculture spokesperson Gregory Jong-Il. "We have to do something about them anyway, so why not market them as tasty snacks? We could have grebe kebabs, grebe pies, grebe-on-a-sticks--the possibilities are endless! Let's not pass up this golden opportunity to provide a feast, if you will, for our economy."
- "The fact is, the grebe population is out of control,"
"I agree that something needs to be done about grebe over-population," says random passer-by Naki Johnson, "but eating them? That's kind of gross. Let's just shoot the ones we have to and shovel their bodies into ditches like normal.""I am shocked and appalled!" declared SPCA President Prudence Love. "If anyone needs to be culled, it's us humans. The grebes were here first, remember? We need to take this as a sign to get our industry--agriculture in particular--to back off. The grebe is part of what makes Caramida a great nation!"
The government has yet to formalize a position on this issue.
My thoughts:
While the Caramidan Grebe is a decent enough animal, I don't know that it is a good idea to saction the killing of these birds for money. The Beef-Based Agrigculture industry can perhaps work to diversify their interests a little bit.
Lastly, would you want to eat this?
I'm not certain which policy I should adopt, so I'm going to offer it to my Privy Council (aka you guys). After hearing from you, I reserve the right to make my own decision, after taking your comments under advisement.
Now it's time to experiment with polling.
