Lunch on the Library Steps

(titled with apologies to [livejournal.com profile] rosefox)
I had an excellent lunch today. Fresh tamales (they don't have to be heated), some string cheese (I'm still a kid a heart sometimes), and LA's fruit salad (I made the fruit salad, it's her family recipe).

I was a little disappointed, because the fruit salad tasted kinda bland last night. This morning, the dressing had a chance to marinate with the fruit, and it was as tasty and addictive as I remember it. Lesson learned, prepare at least 12 hours before serving. I thought I had gotten the proportions wrong (being a recipe that's never been written down, it was guesswork all the way). I wish that the folks at last night's picnic would have had the chance to try the salad I ate at lunch today. It's totally different from yesterday's, simply by virtue of several hours in the fridge.

I had a great time last night with good friends and good food. [livejournal.com profile] ca_snowflake and I hosted a Salad Pot Luck (as friendly counterpoint to the Soup Pot Luck that [livejournal.com profile] arkibet hosted last winter).

[livejournal.com profile] arkibet was there, with his charming beau. [livejournal.com profile] enf and [livejournal.com profile] steluch were there, combining to create the powerful Super-transformer [livejournal.com profile] stenf. S & L were there, sans LJ accounts, but not sans WoW accounts (what are their priorities?). [livejournal.com profile] bobsquatch and [livejournal.com profile] rissymonster attended, wheeling themselves all the way over from Lakeside to Downtown. We were joined after a saladicious supper by [livejournal.com profile] wrynathan, who came bearing MoBev.

Tonight we dine with the newlyweds, just returned from Paris and Aalterdam Amstertam, who promise a tasty fest, and tomorrow I have yet to decide what to provide for Dogs dinner. Friday may be a trip up the valley for river fun with [livejournal.com profile] lurkingowl and [livejournal.com profile] changinganswers, but we're still determining specifics on that one.

Oh. Occurs to me that I should get going so that I might get in touch with someone at the Laney Counseling Dept.

Cheers, folks.

On the library steps. On the library steps.

This is the view from Lakeview Public Library west toward the lake. It affords a shaded spot with a view of the sunny lake and parkside. Perfect for an outdoor picnic luncheon.

I hope the new location will afford such nice places to rest and recover.
